My stay at Forest Edge was absolutely delightful. The location was perfect, nestled at the base of the forest with a view of the ocean. The house had a unique, individual style that I really appreciated. I loved the covered deck, which allowed me to enjoy the outdoors even when it was raining. The attention to detail was amazing - from the fully stocked kitchen with cooking oil and a wide range of utensils, to the thoughtful treats like loose leaf tea and mini peanut slabs on the beds. The eco-friendly options for composting and recycling were also a nice touch. The house itself was cozy and comfortable, with a lovely lounge and a fascinating collection of music and videos. The surrounding area was great for walks, even in the rain, and there was a friendly pub nearby to meet the locals. Special thanks to Reda, the exceptional host, for thinking of everything and making my stay memorable. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Forest Edge and would highly recommend it to others.

I would be happy to recommend this hotel.

This hand-built cottage is an ideal choice for bigger groups of friends, with its great design and quirky decor. The slow combustion heater adds a cozy touch, and the thoughtful provisions in the kitchen, including vases of flowers and garden herbs, make for a delightful stay. The covered deck allows for outdoor enjoyment even in rainy weather, and the extras provided, such as cooking oil and a comprehensive range of kitchen utensils, add convenience. The unique artistic touches throughout the house, coupled with the beautiful garden, create a truly magical atmosphere. The wood stove quickly warms up the house, and the covered porch is perfect for watching stormy weather. Forest Edge in Barrytown offers a destination stay with stunning surroundings, making it a great choice for a weekend getaway.

Felt quite safe, no complaints at all.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The cleanliness was top-notch, and the facilities provided were excellent. We especially loved the cozy and cute property, surrounded by beautiful plants and local birdlife. The location was perfect, with the forest setting providing a serene and calming atmosphere. The hotel provided convenient parking, and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly throughout our stay.

Absolutely nothing to say about dislikes.

This place was mind-blowing! The design of the hand-built cottage was perfect for two couples, and the quirky decor inside and outside was jaw-dropping. We loved the cozy slow combustion heater and the thoughtful touch of vases filled with flowers and garden herbs. The kitchen provisions were excellent and the wooden features added a rustic charm. The host, Reda, was the best ever! She was so welcoming and helpful, even going above and beyond to find and courier my forgotten iPad. The beds were comfortable, the surroundings peaceful and clean, and the fire burning on rainy days made it super cozy. Our daughter loved the toys and books, and we enjoyed relaxing with the provided DVDs. This was by far the most special place we have stayed in NZ. We hope to return someday and experience the serenity and beauty all over again.
